It's time for the Bread Baking Babes again, this month it was the turn of Sara, one of our sweetest babes, from I Like To Cook to choose a bread for us to bake and she made a good choice when she decided on Challah bread. I had never made Challah before but now I am happy I have, that is one of the great things with BBB, it forces me to go outside my own habitual hunts and enriches my experience with a lot of new bread recipes to enjoy!

Challah is a beautiful bread, it consists of two plaits or braids placed on top of each other and sprinkled with poppy seeds. The taste is a bit similar to Swedish vetebröd but it's not as sweet so you can make great sandwiches out of it. I baked it last week when my SIL, Görel, was here and as she had already baked it she could give me some useful advice even though she left for Lucca before I had finished. I think she probably had a better time in Lucca than in my kitchen, especially after the dog had stolen one of my Challot (thanks Lin for the plural!) and the air was thick with invectives and such. The bastard dog stole a whole bread but I suppose I, and Sara, should take it as a compliment, it is obviously an irresistible bread! Anyway, there was still one loaf left that I could feed my children with, something they greatly appreciated! So to conclude I can say that the Challah was a success, easy to make and easy to eat and I am sure I will bake it again -Thank You Sara for introducing me to it!
If you too want to bake it and maybe even become a Bread Baking Buddy, click over to Sara's and get the recipe and the instructions.

I have become the a bad blogger because I either forget or I don't have the time to answer your comments but that does not mean that I don't read or appreciate them, quite the opposite really. The generosity that shines through what you write and the fact that you take the time to comment on my posts makes my blogging worthwhile so Thank You for what you do for me and please keep on commenting!
