LEMONY POTATOES AND ARTICHOKES WITH ROSEMARY AND PARMESAN

This is a superficial post. But maybe not, well it deals with looks anyway but I’m not so sure if it really are looks that I’m talking about. OK, I have for a very long time now (I suppose ever since I first started to care about how I was perceived and seen by other people really) wondered how it is that the times when I make an effort to look good people don’t seem to notice me in particular whereas days like yesterday when my hair could have been better looking and I just walked out in my army pants and a normal jacket a lot of people looked at me so that I really had to check if I was black in my face? No, it was not like when Moses divided the Red Sea or anything like that, I just noticed that people were looking at me and it surprised me because I really don’t think I looked neither strange nor beautiful. Just normal. So why does it not pay off to make an effort I wonder? On the other hand maybe I was really really ugly yesterday but I just couldn’t see it myself? What I’m trying to get at here in this usual meandering way is that I’m fascinated by how differently we see ourselves in comparison to how others see us. I realized a long time ago when a builder told me to cheer up when I was convinced that I was smiling like a Chesire cat that I would never ever be able to understand this but I still am struck by it now and then. And a bit annoyed too to be honest, why do I care at all?

I’m in a sour mood, I crave lemon in a vain attempt to make minus and minus go plus, let’s hope it will help. Eating this made me a bit nicer for a brief moment. It’s always something.

LEMONY POTATOES AND ARTICHOKES WITH ROSEMARY AND PARMESAN

Lemon
Boiled potatoes cut into slices
Artichokes
Fresh rosemary
Parmesan
Salt
Extra-virgin olive oil,

– Clean and slice the artichokes before braising them in olive oil together with rosemary. Add a good squeeze of lemon juice, salt and a little water and go on simmering until the liquid has evaporated.
– Add the potato slices and braise until the artichokes are soft and it’s all golden.
– Sprinkle Parmesan flakes over while it still hot and serve.
