I think I’m suffering from a cook’s block, there is writer’s block so why not cook’s block? It’s that or the cold that has made the creative part of my brain go numb. Don’t know what would be worse, it’s bad enough as it is. It’s so boring to just stand there in front of what I have and not get the tiniest idea, usually my brain starts to calculate possibilities and ping! come up with something (not necessarily good but at least something) but now it’s more like a flat line. I hope it’s not going to last long. Once I did go through a rather long period of my life which could be described as a flat line but I didn’t realize it until this guy told me that I was bored and needed a change. Well, I never really figured out whether he was offering me his services or if he actually saw what I didn’t see myself. And I will never know because that was the last time I saw him, I did my best to avoid him after that. I just hope this cook’s block is going away soon because if it doesn’t it will be the end of this blog…

So this is what my numb brain managed to cook, I’m not so sure an Italian would approve but I can’t see why not. Anyway, cooked like this Brussels sprouts loose a lot of that bitter taste they can have.

PASTA WITH ROSEMARY BRAISED BRUSSELS SPROUTS

Pasta
Brussels sprouts
Leek
Fresh rosemary
Salt
Extra-virgin olive oil

– Put on the water for the pasta and go on cooking it when it boils.
– Meanwhile you shred the Brussels sprouts finely, I did it with a mandoline but be careful with your fingers.
– Slice the white part of the leek finely and start braising leek and sprouts in olive oil together with the rosemary. Add salt.
– Go on braising until the Brussels sprouts are soft.
– Drain pasta and mix with the sprouts.
