The Nice Matters Award

I have received an award from Joanna, A Nice Matters Award! It feels good to receive something like that and it feels good that Joanna thinks that visiting Lucullian is a nice way to begin the day! This is what it is about: This award is for those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world. Once you’ve been awarded, please pass it on to 7 others who you feel are deserving of this award. So now it’s my turn to pick out 7 nice bloggers out of the myriads of nice bloggers that I know. To start with I felt that I had to determine what nice is, last night when I was laying awake as I often do I spent the time thinking about nice and I realized that among the many ways to interpret the word, I usually perceive it in the two ways represented in two children’s stories: Pinocchio and Pippi Longstocking. Pinocchio (and I mean the original not the Disney version) is a story that I dislike intensely because it’ all about the nice that I don’t like, the bourgeoisie nice where there’s a set of rules you have to follow in order to be considered nice and most of them based on superficialities. Pippi Longstocking is interesting because here we encounter both types of nice, the bourgeoisie nice represented in the two neighbour children Tommy and Annika and what I consider real nice represented by Pippi herself, a strong girl, living on her own, open and unprejudiced, full of imagination and above all kind. And kind is the nice I like because it implies so many nice qualities, consideration for others, generosity and kindness itself. Kindness is an undervalued quality in today’s society I think so I decided to use kind as the criteria when I chose my seven bloggers. These have all showed kindness to me in different ways and I’m sure not only to me. And by being kind to me, they have taught me to be kind, something I need to think about, especially when I drive my car.
They are listed in no particular order

Karen of Bake My Day who is the only one of the list that I actually met. Not that it makes any difference because one doesn’t need to meet to understand how someone is. Karen is a very kind person who definitely deserves this award!

Pille of naminami is a nice person too, she has always been so very kind to me so there was no doubt in my mind, she had to have this award too!

Kalyn of Kalyn’s Kitchen. I think everyone knows by now that Kalyn and I have become very good friends through our food blogging. She is really a great friend, always there when needed so she was obviously one of the first I thought of here!

Alanna of A Veggie Venture is also a really kind person who has helped me a lot, both with practical things as with more personal matters and I want to show my appreciation with this award.

Sara of Ms Adventures in Italy. Sara is such a nice and helpful person that I just have to give her this award; she has given me a lot of good advice and help and I really hope we’ll meet soon, it’s not that far between Tuscany and Lombardy…

Mia from Nosh doesn’t blog as often as I wish but I meet her often on Facebook and as she is such a nice person she really have to have this award as well!

Roo of Lala Ween World. Here we have a super nice person, he has reached out to me in times of need and I always appreciate his positive comments so I want to give him an award to flaunt in the face of of Ghone! (who is nice too but not as nice as Roo…so far at least.)

Ok, I just have to squeeze in an extra awardee here: Aagje of Leafy Cooking is always, and I mean always leaving me such nice and kind comments that I feel that this list would be incomplete without her so I’m adding her!

Thank you Joanna for giving me a Nice Matters Award!
