Thanks a lot for all you comments to yesterday's post, so many of you pin pointing various aspects. But first of all I just want to say two things: the first is that we're not leaving for Sweden until the very end of this month, and secondly and most important is that I don't want you to think that I'm sad about this limbo situation I have put myself in, after all, I choose to move here. I knew that it would be like this sooner or later and I also think it's good because it makes me look at nationalism in a completely different way.
I don' keep in touch with Swedish people living here, not because I think there's something wrong with them, I like Swedes, but because I don't feel any need to do it. I don't celebrate many Swedish traditions down here and there are many reasons to this; one is that I don't like celebrating them in Sweden either but if I happen to be there I do it for my children's sake. I moved here and I want to live the life of Italy, not Sweden. But, I do realize that there's a big difference for those who have been forced to leave their countries because of political, religious or other reasons and I also realize that it's of great importance to keep up your national and cultural importance in situations like that. I can only speak for myself obviously and about my own experience.
Fortunately for about 51 weeks a year I don't mind being a foreigner or an outsider, it's even an advantage, I don't need to try to fit in because it's destined to fail anyway which leaves me with a lot of freedom and that's a truly beautiful aspect!

I bought some golden kiwis and then forgot all about them with the result that they got to ripe for my taste so I had to invent something in order to use them anyway. And what is better for slightly overripe fruit than smoothies or slushes? I made myself a slushalike with kiwi, peaches and lime juice sweetened with acacia honey that was truly wonderful on a hot day like today!
GOLDEN KIWI AND PEACH SLUSHALIKE or FRULLATO DI GOLDEN KIWI E PESCA CON GHIACCIO
1 very large glass or two normal ones
2 very ripe golden kiwis
2 small peaches
A good squeeze of lime juice
1-2-3 tblsp runny honey
8 large ice cubes
- Run the ice cubes in a mixer and then add the fruit. Run until smooth.
- Add lime juice and honey and mix for a little more.
- Pour into the glass and enjoy!

I have become the a bad blogger because I either forget or I don't have the time to answer your comments but that does not mean that I don't read or appreciate them, quite the opposite really. The generosity that shines through what you write and the fact that you take the time to comment on my posts makes my blogging worthwhile so Thank You for what you do for me and please keep on commenting!
