SAFFRON YOGURT WITH SPICY HONEY AND PUFFED QUINOA

saffron yogurt7

Here I go again, yet another entry for this month's The Heart of the Matter but I just realized that this Sunday the 22nd means this Sunday so I just have to hurry up if I want to post my entries for this round. I still have another planned but I don't know if I have enough time to make it, my experiments are not always worth to remember and sometimes when they are half good, I need to adjust something.
Anyway, in Greece (or at least in Greek restaurants because I have never been to Greece-everybody in Europe have been to Greece except me despite having had a father who was a Greece fanatic and I even studied Greek in school, not modern Greek but anyway. I just never seem to get there and nowadays I always have to go to Sweden when it's holiday time. But I shouldn't complain, I'm happy we go somewhere and I love going back to my one-time homeland. What a spoilt brat I am.), let's start again, in Greece you often get a bowl with wonderful yogurt with honey on as a dessert and I think that it is a lovely idea. And when Joanna has told me that I can use dairy products with up to 5% fat in them I decided to do a heart healthy yogurt dessert. But just yogurt and honey is too simple to post as an entry here for the
HotM so I started thinking spicy which led me to this saffron yogurt with a little cinnamon, cardamom and ginger honey topped with some puffed quinoa for texture. And don't forget to send your entries before the 22nd of April to Joanna at joannacary AT ukonline DOT co DOT uk.

SAFFRON YOGURT WITH SPICY HONEY AND PUFFED QUINOA

Yogurt, I used my favourite one which has 4.2% fat in it
Saffron powder, add as much or little as you like, you don't need much in any case
Mild, runny honey
Fresh ginger, finely chopped
Cinnamon power
Cardamom powder
Puffed quinoa or something else that is a bit crunchy and heart healthy

- Mix the yogurt with the saffron, stir until it's all yellow.
- Add the ginger, cinnamon and cardamom to the honey.
- Put the yogurt in small bowls and top with the spicy honey and then some puffed quinoa.
- Serve.
