I'm still enjoying the prune and chocolate combination and I couldn't resist posting another recipe but this time I have added walnuts as well! I really need something like this today (well at least my so called soul needs it because my body could do without it) because an uglier weather than we are having today is difficult to find. Rainy, windy and cold. Rather nasty. So it feels so right to stay in the kitchen with the oven humming away and just hear the occasional smattering of rain on the kitchen door window when the wind turns...

STRIPEY WALNUT, PRUNE AND CHOCOLATE TARTS
5-6 small tarts
White or normal pastry dough:
100 g /3.5 oz salted butter
100 ml / 0.42 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
400 ml / 1.7 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
Chocolate pastry dough for the stripes:
50 g / 1.75 oz salted butter
50 ml / 0.21 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
200 ml / 0.85 cup flour
3 tblsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
Filling:
12 walnut halves
15 prunes
60 g / 2.1 oz dark chocolate
- Make the two pastry doughs: first stir butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg yolks and continue to stir, when it's smooth you add flour, baking powder and in one of the dough the cocoa powder. Roll it out on a flour dusted table. Line the tart forms with the normal dough, remember to leave some of it for the 'lids', and then you cut stripes of the chocolate and place them on the normal dough. Press them into the dough gently with a rolling pin and then cut out circles for the lids.
- Chop the walnuts, the prunes and the dark chocolate and mix well. Fill the lined tart forms with the filling and then you cover them with the stripey lids.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven (175° C / 347° F) for about 10-15 minutes.
