Tonight I’m not going to cook, just eat. A nice change and very appreciated even if it is the second time this week we’re going to have dinner with some of the neighbours living here. Not all because there are distinct rules to who invites who here. This summer there hasn’t been any quarrels, not yet anyway and soon we are leaving for 3 weeks in Sweden so maybe I manage to avoid it. Not that we ever enter into these quarrels but we are supposed to take part for one or the other so we have to use all our skill to avoid that. I just can’t be bothered to engage myself in fights being fought by others for nothing really. And we do keep a Peace flag hanging on our fence after all!
This is my very late contribution to Weekend Herb Blogging, this weekend hosted by Kalyn who has become a real friend of mine! Through all the weekly mails about the WHB posts, a real friendship has grown despite the fact that we live so far away from one another and live such different lives. And when I look around on the large flora of food blogs I can see the same thing happening all over. Not to talk about all the nice comments I get from readers, it’s strange but I feel as if you have become my friends as well! I don’t know why I’m so soppy and sentimental today (my father would have laughed at me without pity and rightly so) but the fact remains that you all make me feel good! Thanks!

INSALATA DI AVOCADO, LENTICCHIE E GRANCHIO CON SEMI DI SENAPE or SALAD WITH AVOCADO, LENTILS AND CRAB MEAT AND MUSTARD SEEDS

1 avocado
200 ml / 0.85 cup cooked lentils, I used red ones because that’s what I had at home
200 g / 7 oz crab meat
½ medium cucumber
1 tsp black mustard seeds
2 tsp yellow mustard seeds
1-2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp vinegar
3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
Salt

– Crush the mustard seeds a bit before you add the vinegar and the Dijon mustard. Stir and then you add the oil, try it and add salt if needed.
– Cut the avocado and the cucumber into pieces and put them into a bowl together with the lentils.
– Add crab meat, mix it and then you pour the mustard vinaigrette over the whole.
– Leave it for a while to marinate so that the solids have the time to absorb the flavours of the liquids.
