FICHI E PROSCIUTTO CRUDO SULLE BRACE or GRILLED PROSCIUTTO WRAPPED FRESH FIGS

figs10

The other evening my neighbour called me from the road so that he could give me some of the fresh figs that he had just picked from the trees together with one of his grandchildren. And I didn’t refuse. We have a large fig tree growing on the other side of the road that passes our house with branches stretching out towards us but not yet actually reachable. But I can be patient when I want because I know that in a year or two I will be able to pick them when I lean over our fence…

FICHI E PROSCIUTTO CRUDO SULLE BRACE or GRILLED PROSCIUTTO WRAPPED FRESH FIGS

Fresh figs, any colour goes
Prosciutto crudo (not the Tuscan variety because it’s too salt) in thin slices

- Peel of the outer layer of the figs and divide them lengthwise in two.
- Wrap a slice of prosciutto around each fig half and grill them, either on a real grill or a grill pan (a normal frying pan with any grease is ok too) for 1 ½-2 minutes on each side.
- Serve.
