BANANA AND KIWI WITH LEMON AND BASIL SUGAR

kiwi

In about six weeks time I have to speak in public, a small public but still a public so now I have to cut down on the excessive food that I have been stuffing myself with for the last months. I have to face the consequences of my actions. But I’m trying to face these in a more positive way than I usually do, I try to fool myself a bit by pretending that I’m eating grand food when it is rather normal. So when I eat some fruit I make it into a dish instead of just devouring it, like this afternoon snack; instead of just peeling the banana and the kiwi and eating them, I used a ‘technique’ that I found at Anne’s Food, flavouring a bit of sugar with herbs! But now I have to sit in the sun a lot so that my tan will cover when I will blush…

BANANA AND KIWI WITH LEMON AND BASIL SUGAR
1 large or 2 small servings

1 banana
1 kiwi
½-1 tbsp sugar
4-5 leaves of basil
1 tbsp strips of lemon zest

– Cut the banana and the kiwi in small pieces.
– Put the sugar in a mortar or a small bowl, add the basil leaves that you have shredded and the lemon zest. Pestle until the sugar is all humid and green.
– Add it to the fruit, mix well and leave it to marinate for a while before eating, in this way the fruit absorbs the flavours better!
