PISELLI VERDI PICCANTI CON PORRO, UOVO or DRIED SPLIT PEAS WITH LEEK, BOILED EGG AND SAMBAL OELEK

What you se below is the remnants of my birthday cake. My birthday is today but we started to celebrate yesterday at the house of some friends because in this house it really difficult to celebrate birthdays during the weeks. In the morning that is and I really think its fundamental that the celebration starts in the morning! Each of my three children leave home at different times so it feels inhuman to wake up those who can sleep longer just to sing a song etc.. Anyway, I love my birthday, it is in the spring which means that it a big possibility that the weather is as nice as today, spring means rebirth and that makes it easier now when I begin to feel that every birthday is leading me towards the inevitable… I don’t get a lot of presents but those that I get are chosen with love and I must say that having children has added a special touch to the occasion, they are so eager to show whatever they have made or bought and I just love the true feeling they show. I’m getting soppy so I better stop this, I just want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all of you because sooner or later it’s your birthday too and I won’t be there but now I am!

After yesterday evenings excesses (we just had the most gorgeous dinner, I actually felt a bit bad at the end), I really feel like eating something like this, healthy and filling but not too much. And there’s nothing better than a bit of sambal oelek to make you feel alive again!
