Weekend Herb Blogging 13

Weekend Herb Blogging 13

Yesterday I when I went out with the dog, the weather was dreadful; it had been snowing a little during the night but now it was raining. Not the kind of rain that melts the snow but a cold, icy one that turned the snow into ice. We walked on in the rain and I thought about WHB and that I didn’t have anything to propose. I tried to remember if I at least had some strange vegetable at home but nah, just ordinary ones so I gave up the whole subject. We walked on and then it happened! Suddenly I saw something that I had been looking for weeks but in vane. And the strange thing is that we were on our way back and I was looking at the same things that I did on the way ‘out’ so to speak. But I hadn’t seen anything. If I were a believer, I would say that my prayers had been heard but as it is, I just have to say that I had been blind.
When we first moved here, it was winter. When I went out for walks, I found this wonderful light green flower that I discovered was Helleborus viridis or green hellebore. I love this flower, it’s so delicate yet strong and the best thing of all is that it appears when all the other flowers do not dare to show themselves (except for my rose, Old Blush!)! There are many garden varieties that are really eye catching and colourful but I remain faithful to this one, we have even brought a plant from the wood to grow in the garden and I can tell you that it was a lot of work involved, I was actually surprised to see that it survived because the roots were so deep that we had to cut them off in order to get it! If you want to know more about the Hellebore, check out the links in the text.
And as usual, don’t forget to check out Kalyn’s Kitchen tomorrow for the round up!
